becomes cornea in front of pupil and iris


episclera: layer above it
choroid: layer below it
Scleritis

painful with eye movement because extraocular muscles insert here
aka red eye

Episcleritis

sits on top of sclera
Keratitis

sclera separated from environment by conjunctiva (transparent)
cornea has no conjunctiva covering, easy to be inflamed (keratitis)
foreign body sensation in eye


Conjunctiva

transparent layer sits on top of sclera
also goes around eye and covers underside of eyelid
Conjunctivitis

injection: blood vessels in eye

purulent: bacterial

Uvea

contains iris, ciliary body, choroid

iridocyclitis: iris and ciliary body
